Abstract

The current study focused on assessing the role of Non-Government Organization (NGOs) utilization of monitoring and evaluation information for developing organizations strategic plans, reflecting program performance, for evidence-based advocacy and for decision making on resource allocation on organization effectiveness, taking a case study of NGOs in Dar es Salaam. The study employed two theories, namely the Program Theory and the Theory of Change to explain the relationship exists between the adopted research model. The study employed a positivist paradigm with a deductive research approach and descriptive research design. Data were collected through questionnaires from 40 purposively selected Monitoring and Evaluation staff, and Project managers from 20 selected NGO. The study finding show that there is significant positive influence of utilization of monitoring and evaluation information for developing organizations strategic plans, reflecting program performance, for evidence-based advocacy and for decision making on resource allocation on NGOs effectiveness. The study recommends that the organization should practice monitoring and evaluation capacity building for all staff across departments to increase organizational efficiency, this will ensure that staff are effective and useful for both current and future projects.
