The Influence of Ethical Leadership on Teachers` Motivation in Secondary Schools in Tunduma Town Council, Tanzania.

Abstract
This study examined the influence of ethical leadership behaviours on teachers’ motivation in secondary schools in Tunduma Town Council, Tanzania. Specifically, the study examined existing leadership behaviours in handling Teachers’ needs in secondary schools in Tunduma Town Council; assessed the relationship between ethical leadership and Teachers’ motivation in secondary schools and determined ethical leadership model for Teachers’ motivation in secondary schools. Descriptive research design was applied under mixed research approach. The sample of 113 respondents were used to collect data using observation, interview and questionnaire methods. The research revealed that respecting and supporting teachers` needs, delegation of activities to teachers by Head of schools, presence of ethical communications in the school, involvement of teachers in making decisions, sustainability or long caring of teachers` needs, integrity (keeping promises), and fairness at working area, rewarding teachers in case of high performance or any positive wonders done by the respective teachers, punctuality, hard-working, trust-worthy, team working, commitment, feedback sharing, absence of segregation, discrimination, or isolation of teachers basing on tribes were identified as ethical leadership factors that motivate teachers. The results suggested significant relationship between ethical leadership and teachers` motivation. It was concluded that ethical leaders improve school performance (i.e. of teachers and students) due to the presence of ethical leadership values. This study recommends educational managers to employ ethical leadership values in their managerial endeavors, due to their positive impacts to schools, students, teachers, and community wellbeing.
