Abstract

This study focused on examining the role of communication strategies in monitoring and evaluation systems effectiveness in projects implemented by Faith-Based Organizations, using projects implemented by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania -East of Lake Victoria Diocese as a case study; The objective of this study was, to examine the role of communication strategies in M&E systems effectiveness in FBOs projects; The study employed the descriptive quantitative approach and survey design whereby structured questionnaire was used to collect primary data electronically, in google forms, analyzed using Microsoft Excel and secondary data collected through literature review. Research findings presented using frequency, in tables and charts; Results revealed that, the ELVD M&E system shares weekly information from top to her members without conducting a survey to analyze and identify what types of information her members need, all members are not engaged in monitoring and evaluating the implemented project activities with an exceptional on implementation; Also the M&E system reports of ELCT-ELVD are not using charts and tables for the visual expressions of progress and variation, and there is a high need of suggestion box for opinions with scheduled day for leaders clarification and answers to what found in the box. The study recommends the availability of a forum and channel for continuous feedback dialogue between FBOs leaders and their congregations will increase collaboration and build trust, the ELCT-ELVD has to conduct a survey to analyze and identify the type of information her members need to be communicated to them concerning projects.
