The role of competency-based curriculum on creation of employability skills in Tanzania.

Abstract
This study sought to investigate the role of competency-based curriculum on creation of employability skills in Tanzania, Ruvuma region was taken as the case study. The investigation was guided by this objective to find out the extend CBC creates employability skills required in wealthy creation sectors locally available. Several tools for data collection were used included questionnaires, interview, focus group discussion, observation and documentary reviews. The study adopted triangulation method of data collection to ensure validity and reliability of data. The researcher used content analysis procedures in data analysis. The main finding of the study was, skills needed to operate wealth creation sectors locally available were not created one hundred per cent by CBC, only 17 per cent. Therefore, there was very minimal role played by CBC in creation of the employability skills. The study provided the following recommendations, first curriculum should be innovated to meet the real-world graduates live after their studies, second CBC should be an engine in preparing and in driving graduates from seeking employment from formal sectors and government to stage where individual graduate will live as self- employed. The researcher recommends the following titles for further studies, A critical investigation on alignment between competency-based curriculum and employability skills. Also, the role of curriculum innovation on wealth creation.
