Abstract

The purpose of this research study was to investigate the Factors Affecting Timely Completion of NGO Based Projects. It was conducted in Mwanza City, Tanzania. The objectives of this study were; to assess the influence of project funding on timely completion of NGO projects, to analyze the influence of scope management on timely completion of NGO projects, to assess the influence of monitoring and control on timely completion of NGO projects and to analyze the influence of project planning on timely completion of NGO projects. The method employed to undertake this study was descriptive research design. The study sampled 26 NGOs among the 71 NGOs in Mwanza region. The data gathered from participants was through questionnaires and interview guide. The data collected were analyzed by using descriptive analysis and the analysis was done through the use of Excel and SPSS Version 28. The findings of this study will be very beneficial in understanding of the factors that affect timely completion of NGO based projects. The study recommended that; the NGOs should ensure that they have reliable and trustworthy fund donors before they launch any new projects, the government should provide support to NGOs because most of their projects focus on community wellness and charity works, community participation should be encouraged so as to give a chance to beneficiaries of those projects to be a part of the journey during project implementation and project sustainability.
