Abstract

This project basically is product based on community needs assessment exercise conducted at Manyoni ward in Mwembeni village in order to identify the assets of the community and to determine potential concerns that the area faces, Manyoni ward, in Manyoni district, Tanzania .Mwembeni area was chosen for project by paying attention to women who previously were not involved in income generation activities in the community. The research identified various needs of the community, which can be solved through capacity building. The Focus group Discussion conducted exposed the need for income generation activity is the priority number one since both members lack enough capital to run a small business for supporting. To meet the expected goals, research requirements and criteria, a designed and developed research instruments including questionnaire development, interview schedules, selection of sample survey were arranged for data collection. The research findings from the study have noted that despite the efforts that had been taken by the government and other stakeholders to support women in the community still most of them live hesitation life as a result of unpredictable income flows to most of the poor households. This situation has been evidenced by the study on family and individuals ability to meet various expenses on their normal life particularly on the aspects of health, food, clothes, and education expenses which are basic needs. So that improvement is attained, income promotion to women through sewing activities is inevitable.
