Abstract

The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of donor funded projects in girls’ education programs in Tanzania, by focusing on the DREAMSIC project, which was recently been operated by FEMINAHIP. The study was guided by the research objectives which geared towards, describing the extent in which the DREAMSIC girls’ education project was able to build self-awareness to the beneficiaries, assessing the effectiveness of the DREAMS IC education project, and investigating the existing Monitoring information system used in tracking project performance. The study was carried out through structured questionnaires to guide the response and maintain the uniformity of the responses. Descriptive statistics was applied to analyze the quantitative data obtained. Statistical Packages for Social scientist used to analyze the collected data, and present in a table and graphical format. The consesus of the findings had been made as the results of visiting and reviewing several studies. The research findings indicated that, girls’ education programmes are very effective and relevant to the targeted beneficiaries. The programs have high contributions in helping girls’ awareness in different areas, specifically reproductive health, self-determinations, self-esteem, gender awareness, and the effect of abortion, violence against women, adolescence and family planning. The findings indicated to have inspired and assisted girls mentor and physical transformation. The study concluded that Project developers of the DREAMSIC needed to realize the importance of having inclusive project; it has to engage boys in the program to help them become more aware about girls and find the ways to help. Because both girls and boys are living in the same community and culture. So it is essential to include boys so as to make their sisters and future mothers in development and endeavors.
