Contribution of Televisions in Promoting Covid-19 Vaccination in Tanzania: A Case of Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation, Channel One.

Abstract
This study examined the contribution on Television in promoting COVID-19 vaccination in Tanzania, a case of TBC 1. Specifically, this study aimed at finding out the extent to which TBC 1 airs the content pertaining COVID-19 vaccinations, to determine the efforts which are employed by TBC 1 in educating the citizens about COVID-19 vaccinations as well as to find out the challenges facing the media house namely TBC 1 in communicating the message pertaining to COVID-19 vaccination. Data was collected from TBC 1 media house`s workers using the interview method. Data from the field were presented qualitatively (thematically). Basing on the data collected from the field, it was discovered that, TBC 1 was airing the content pertaining COVID-19 vaccination daily and all the days in a week, however, not every content had chance to be aired via TBC 1, rather the content which was professionally proved and the content which was within the confinement of TBC 1 media policies. Moreover, TBC 1 was investing a lot of efforts to make people to get the education on the vaccinations like preparing the documentaries on the vaccinations, news coverages on the matter, invitation of the experts to give more education on the matter, just to mention few. On the other hand, government interaction, societal diversification, international recommendations on some vaccinations have been challenging the performance of TBC 1 on the COVID-19. The study concluded that, TBC1 was playing the active and vital role in ensuring the citizens were opting for vaccination regardless of the prior information they had on the matter. It was recommended that; TBC 1 personnels had to be free and being assured of its editorial independence while working on the matter. The Government interaction reduces their morale on struggling for making all citizens opt for COVID-19 vaccination.
