Improving Incomes Of Young Single Mothers Through Production Of Amaranth, Pumpkin and Sweet Potato Leaves at Tandale Ward, Kinondoni Municipality.

Abstract
This project report emanates from a project on improving incomes of young single mother through the production of vegetable namely…. at Tandale Ward, in Kinondoni Municipal. Before the intervention, Community Needs Assessment (CNA) was carefully carried-out which established the community needs and problems. Through CNA it was established that, the main problem which face majority of young single mothers of Tandale Ward was sustainability of income. The study set out specific objectives towards solving the problem. The objectives were, 10 young single mothers to be trained on production of amaranth, sweet potato leaves and pumpkin leaves by June,2022; facilitation of acquisition of 2450 sqm of land to 10 young mothers for production of amaranth, pumpkin leaves and sweet potato leaves by June 2022; facilitation of capital formation for 10 young single mothers on production of amaranth, pumpkin leaves and sweet potato leaves by July 2022 and to increase incomes of 10 young single mothers through vegetable production from 100,000-700,000 tshs per month by August 2022. The young single mothers agreed to establish green vegetables (amaranth, sweet potato leaves and pumpkin leaves) production project. The young mothers showed commitment to the project by working alongside stakeholders in execution of the project. Agricultural extension Officer was also involved in the project for follow-up sustainability of the project. It is recommended that other women groups should adopt similar income generating projects for poverty alleviation.
