Use of Library Resources for Promoting Quality Education in Tanzanian Private Universities: The Case of Tumaini University Dar es salaam College and St. Joseph University in Tanzania.

Abstract
The motive of the research was to assess the Use of Library Resources for Promoting Quality of Education in Tanzanian Private Universities. The research was conducted in two University libraries, namely; Tumaini University Dar es salaam College and St. Joseph University in Tanzania libraries. The study adopted quantitative and qualitative research approaches. The population of the study comprised of 3700 students and Librarians. The sample size of 320 was drawn from the population of the study. Simple random sampling and Purposeful sampling techniques were employed in drawing the sample. Questionnaire and interview guides were used to collect data. Data were processed and analysed by using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS), and the findings were processed using tables, charts and discussed using descriptive method The study findings indicated that, students were aware on the availability of library resources. They were also using library resources effectively and knew the importance of the library material in their studies. The study revealed that, shortage of time, inadequacy of reading materials, poor internet connection, out dated books, lack of assistance from the librarians, unreliable electrical power, and poor library budgets as challenges facing students in using library resources. From the study findings, it can be noted and concluded that, the library resources in the private universities are well used for promoting quality of education. It is recommended that there should be regular user training on using library resources, increase time for using library, reasonable library budget, and reliable power supply to library buildings for effective use of library resources.
