Abstract

This study explored Contribution of the Council Management Team in Development Projects in Nyang’hwale District, Geita. The study was guided by four specific objectives; namely, assessing the role of CMT in the management of development projects in Nyang’hwale District, identify how community members are involved in the initiation of the development projects in Nyang’hwale District, find out the challenges facing CMT in the management of the development projects in Nyang’hwale District, and to recommend the solutions to the challenges facing CMT in the management of the development projects in Nyang’hwale District. The study employed a mixed research approach and a descriptive research design. The study used stratified simple random sampling and purposive sampling to select 119 sample sizes. – the respondents who were selected were Ward Executive Officers, Village Executive Officers, Council Management Team and Headquarters Workers. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed appropriately using descriptive statistics while qualitative data were analyzed based on the content and themes. The study reveals that the CMT plan the district development projects, monitor the development projects, evaluate the implementation of development projects and advice DED. Also, the study concluded that some of the Council Management Team Members do not implement their roles because they do not have required qualifications. The study concluded that the government should ensure that every head of department who is the member of Council Management is able to implement his or her roles effectively.
