Abstract

The study assessed workplace environment factors on employee’ performance at Karatu health center. Organizations are very serious when it comes to employees’ performance but sometimes forget to look on factors that do not motivate employees to perform better. The researcher was motivated by workplace environment factors that affect employees’ performance. The study used cross-section design to collect data from 59 respondents. Questionnaire was adopted as data collection tool. Workplace environment factors attributed to 80% of employees’ performance. This is positive significant relationship between work-life balance, job aids, communication system and performance feedback with employees’ performance. The study recommends that work-place environment factors have significance impact on the performance of employees at karatu health centre. The study emphasizes those factors such as work-life balance, job aids, communication system and performance feedback have strong influence on employee’s performance. But these factors are not met by organization and resulted into the employees’ dissatisfaction the results from this study have shown the effect of workplace environmental factor on health workers performance and productivity and recommend that efforts should be geared towards improving the physical environment, social environment, and work system associated with the workplace. Job aids to be provided for the protection of health workers, communication system should be improved to increase the level of involvement of health workers in the day-to-day decisions of the Karatu health centre. Performance feedback will improve the level of commitment of employees to the organization. The study recommends that regular performance feedback for each employee might be done to assist employee to understand their areas to improve. The study recommends organization and human resources manager to provide enough time for employees to handle family matters this will help employee to free their mind while at work.
