Abstract

It was basically due to the changes and stages that had been observed taking place with AngloGold Ashanti Limited and that also affected Geita Gold mining Limited – a subsidiary to AGA that the researcher developed an interest in and saw the need to research on Organisational Change Management in terms of trying and focusing on establishing as to whether this is the appropriate concept in improving the performance of the organisation. The study was basically based on the following two propositions: That there is no relationship between organisational change management and the performance of the organisation, that there is a positive relationship between organisational change management and the performance of the organisation. The research study has however established that there is a positive relationship between the organisational change management concepts and the organisational performance as will be discussed in chapter 4. The research study results concluded out that, if implemented and managed well, organisational changes management decisions and tools could easily yield out results as were expected by the shareholders and by the entrusted custodians of the business and that is the management as was seen at Geita in which case there was an improvement in terms of production, safety performance, as well as financially – costs were down and profit grew, dividends were declared and paid and the government received taxes and community also realized community projects as a result.
