Effect of Tourism Development on Livelihood Communities Around Arusha National Park in Tanzania.

Abstract
This study assessed the effect of tourism development on livelihood communities around Arusha National Park in Tanzania. With specific objectives: to analyze the economic impacts of tourism development on livelihood communities around ANAPA, to assess the social change brought about by tourism development on livelihood communities around ANAPA and to examine the environmental impacts of tourism development on livelihood communities around ANAPA. The study adapted the mixed approach using a survey design based on 79 respondents draw from the study population. The finding shows that tourism resource on Arusha National Park contribute to livelihood communities development specifically on infrastructure development, education, income generation and employment opportunities. It was recommended that the Tanzania government should play a key role in promoting development of tourism in livelihood communities around Arusha National Park by revising tourism policies to emphasize different strategies that guarantee that the local community near Arusha National Park and tourism sites reap the benefits of the revenues generated from the tourism industry.
