Abstract

The study assessed factors influencing the adolescents attendance to sexual and reproductive health services in Nkasi district council, Rukwa Region. The specific objectives for the study were to assess the extent to which gender ,information accessibility and influence of service provider determine adolescent’s attendance to SRH services.Cross-sectional study design was used to investigate exposure and outcomes at Nkasi district in Rukwa region. The study used a hybrid methodology that included both quantitative and qualitative research methods with random sampling method. Data were analysed using statistical package of social sciences (SPSS) and presented in descriptive statistics of frequncies tables while qualitative data from the interview were analysed using content analysis.Then regression analysis were conducted to find the relationship between variables and ANOVA for testing significance level. Overall findings shows that most influential factors accessibility to various reports, attending school, listening to/watching SRH programs,friendly language and confidentiality contributes to enhance adolescent attendance.Generally analysis shows 78.8% of the variance in adolescent attendance to SRH services is explained by the predictors (Gender, service provider influence, and access of information). The study recommended integrated sexual and reproductive health education in Schools, improvement of health services in remote areas, involvement of media in public health initiatives, as well continuing promotion confidentiality so as to boost adolescent attendance for SRH.
