The Influence of Quality Assurance Procedures in Improving Teaching in Secondary Schools in Bagamoyo District, Tanzania.

Abstract
This study assessed the influence of quality assurance procedures in improving teaching in secondary schools in Bagamoyo district, Tanzania. The study was guided by three specific objectives namely; to examine the effect of school quality assurance procedures in improving teaching in secondary schools, to examine teachers’ perception on the effect of school quality assurance procedures in improving teaching activities in secondary schools and to determine an effective quality assurance model for teaching improvement. The study adopted descriptive research design and mixed approach. The data were collected from 144 respondents. The findings showed that, there was positive and significant relationship between quality assurance procedures and improved teaching in secondary schools. Moreover, teachers perceived that quality assurance procedures would improve teaching activities in secondary schools in Tanzania. The study posited that an effective quality assurance model for teaching improvement should embrace sports and games, motivations, tours, Swahili language, take-home assignments, role plays and discussions. The study recommended that quality assurance procedures should be student- centred. Moreover, teachers should be involved in setting up the quality assurance procedures for positive impact on improving teaching and learning activities in secondary schools.
