Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate on” Factors influencing sustainability of donor-funded agricultural projects in Kibondo district” the study specifically evaluated how monitoring and evaluation (M&E) practices, how community’s involvement how the level of funding can influence sustainability of donor funded agriculture projects in .The study involved sample size of 138 respondents, distribution of respondents were 109 farmers, WAEO 19,NTA 4,Project coordinator 1,DAICO 4 who were selected by random and purposeful sampling. Methods for data collection for this study were interview and questionnaire that was designed on kobo tool application. The study methodology employed research design (quantitative and qualitative) methods. The study concluded that community participation in all project cycle has impact on sustainability; source of funding was based on donor only. Furthermore, the study recommended that “bottom up” approach have to be used in implementing donor-funded projects that enabled community to participate and get involved fully in all phases of the project. In addition, project beneficiary have to contribute to project capital costs, either labor or money, as the good indicator of project sustainability.
