Abstract
The study conducted for asking the questions of the most pressing need in the community, listing the community needs, voting and prioritizing the community need so that the intervening may be done for community development. The community members and the researcher studied the necessity of tie and dye business in the study area. One of the objectives was to enhance its intervention and deliverance. Different ways and processes or rather steps made this possible including development of the group strategic plan. The overall objective of the project was to find out the challenges that the community is facing and resources which are available in the community. The challenges discovered were the responsibility of the group members and the researcher. By doing so 30 members were selected randomly both gender and age groups inclusively. The tools used to gather information included household questionnaires, focus group discussions, interviewing and observation. The project revealed challenges face by youth such as designing skills, how to increase income and starting capital. The project outputs resulted where by 30 group members were trained on marketing, financial management, tied and dye design, materials mixing, the site for production were allocated, and the group were registered at ward level. The implementation of the project was based on community needs assessment which was carried out during the participatory assessment process. This involved understanding of their income generating activities of the community members. The project has been well implemented and left in the hands of the community members and named VIJANA TUJITUME.
