Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify factors influencing teachers’ transfer from one place to another place. The study was guided by four research objectives: Examine the understanding of stakeholders on issues related to teachers transfer, to evaluate stakeholders’ experience on issues related to teachers transfer, to assess the policy and guidelines of teachers transfer and to explore the developing trend on issues related to teachers transfers. Data collections were done using questionnaires and interviews and also have been analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative analysis was predominantly used for questionnaire and data analysis procedures such as statistics (numbers and tables). The coded data were analyzed through the Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) in order to prepare the research report. The study concludes that unfriendly school environment, poor economic status of an area, poor working environment, being near with families, education policy and guidelines that allow teachers to request transfer, policy and supervisors’ weakness are the identified factors influencing teachers transfer from one place to another. The study recommends that, Educational supervisors should strictly work according the policy guidelines to avoid giving chance teachers to request transfer with unnecessary reasons.There is a need of improving teachers working environment by providing important social services which will enable to retain them in the station. The employers should make laws on the issues of transfer And these laws should be made known to the new employed teacher before he/she signs the contract.
