Abstract

The study sought to assess “The factors affecting performance of building permits assurance project in Tanzania a case of Kinondoni municipal council. The study employed both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The researcher adapted descriptive survey. The study is guided by three questions as follows: Which challenges affecting performance of building permits assurance projects? Second was; What are the quality services in provision building permits assurance projects? And lastly was; what are the best solutions to the challenges affecting performance of building permits assurance projects in Kinondoni Municipal? The result showed the following challenges; No enough transportation for the officers to go to site visits, inadequate facilitation to per town inspection and lack of cooperation of clients to the officers, absence of transparency between the workers and clients, randomly building without permit approval, poor knowledge of people on land rules, lack of transparency in provision of information, high Building permit cost, low level of science and technology. Participants proposed the government to encourage development of science and technology, good arrangement of cities, reducing land conflicts through land management systems, fast tracking of building permit request for easy and fast processes, Maximizing Officers working capability and lowering permit fees. The study therefore recommended that government must well provide clear policy, Guidelines cost for Building permits, equipment for work, insisting the use of science and technology in provision of building permits. Therefore general survey is recommended to involve large geographical area and large sample. Keywords: Building Permits, Assurance, Project, Performance.
