Abstract

The study sought to examine the effect of performance appraisal practice on Employee Performance: at business administration office in Babati town council. The study was guided by four objectives namely; to determine the effect interpersonal factors on employee performance, to determine the effect of Rater accuracy on employee performance at, to determine the effect of objective setting on employee performance on the performance and lastly to evaluate the effect recognition program on employees’ performance at business administration office in Babati. The study adopted explanatory research design and quantitative data were collected as mainly through primary data sources. The data were collected by using questionnaire from the sample size of about 168 respondents. In this study stratified sampling was used as the study's sampling method. Data was analyzed using the descriptive statistics and Pearson moment correlation. The findings revealed that all of the independent variables were significantly and positively correlated to the employee’s performance. The rater accuracy variable was found to be the strongest and most significant contributor. it is recommended that good interpersonal relationship among employees are improved, supervisors to receive training on how to conduct OPRAS and clear setting of goals and working objectives and lastly employees should be involved in all working planning so as to be able to recognize the OPRAS program for their own benefit.
