Abstract

This study on exploring the impact of rewards on employees’ turnover in private companies has been conducted at Kilimanjaro Plantation Limited. The attention has been paid much to this study due to the importance of human resources in the success of any organization; in this case; in the performance of the private sector, Agriculture sector in particular. The study adopted a case study whereby a total of 90 respondents represented the total population. The sample representatives where identified randomly without using and scientific sampling technique and those that had left the organization were selected through snowball sampling technique. The questionnaire comprising of open and closed ended questions was used as a tool of data collection. The collected data were analysed using statistical social science tool. The analysis was mainly descriptive, involving the computation of frequencies and percentages, which resulted in extraction of bar graphs and statistical tables. The results of this analysis are presented in the form of tables and graphs for easy interpretation and description to draw conclusion. From study, it has been found that to some extent the rewards provided to employees at Kilimanjaro Plantation Limited has influence of reducing employees’ turnover. However, the reward system does not follow clear procedures in its implementation hence leading to discrimination and favouritism. It has revealed that the reward system is biased. Finally, the study proposes the management of Kilimanjaro Plantation Limited to have a clears reward systems which its implementation can be transparent to the employees. The study also proposes another study to be done on evaluating the effectiveness of the incentive plan for the private companies, Kilimanjaro Plantation Limited inclusive.
