An assessment of effects of motivation on employee performance enhancement.

Abstract
This research assessed the effects of motivation on employee performance enhancement. The specific objectives were to examine which factors motivate employee’s performance enhancement, to evaluate the relationship between motivation and employee’s performance enhancement. Also, to find out the impact of employee recognition of motivation in performance enhancement in Dodoma City Council. The research was conducted by using questionnaires, key informant interviews and documentary reviews from a population size of 101 people. The findings from objective one were; good living and working environments, job enrichment, coaching of an employee, co-workers, information communication and health security as the factors that motivate employees. Objective two; using linear regression analysis there is a strong and positive relationship between motivation and employee performance enhancement. In objective three the impact findings are; the increase in employee expectation, an increase in humanity, an increase in creativity and innovation, employee retention, building employee and employer relationships, the building of employee royalty, building employee confidence and employee trust as the outcome of employee’s recognition. The rationale, motivation is a catalyst enhancing employees’ performance, inspires employees to utilize different factors of production and work using their abilities hence enabling the organization to make maximum application of its physical and financial resources. It is recommended that the presence of a progressive budget brings satisfaction, the establishment of strategic communication, cultural consideration, enact laws that ensure annual increments of salaries and upgrading of knowledge motivate employee’s performance enhancement.
