Abstract

Due to increased competition which is brought about by liberalization and deregulation, organizations are faced with greater demands to be flexible, responsive and efficient in order to be more competitive. As a result of this, organizations are faced with a lot of challenges in their effort to remain competitive in the market. The objective of the study was to investigate the effects of cost leadership strategy on organizational performance of Kilimanjaro International Leather Industries Co. Ltd in Moshi Municipal as the case study. In doing this, the study adopted mixed research design. The data was collected through questionnaire and classified into categories for ease of statistical analysis. The coded data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis that accepted or rejected null hypotheses. This was done with the aid of statistical package for social scientist (SPSS) version 20. These findings therefore imply that cost leadership plays a very significant role in determining organizational performance. The study concluded that allocation of resources and marketing strategy has direct effects on organizational performances. The organizations under study seem to have applied cost reduction on minimal basis and therefore the study recommended that organization should look into how they can apply cost reduction in order to spur the growth of the organization.
