Abstract

The study examined the influence of training on employee’s performance in the LGA in Tanzania, the case of Meatu District Authority”. The study used a cross sectional design to measure the variables. The objectives of this study were; to examine various training programmes, to investigate the perceptions of employees towards training, and to assess the challenges associated with employees training programmes in Meatu District Authority. The study revealed the main reasons of conducting training program is to enhance employee’s performance. Also, it was established that training creates teamwork that influences employee performance in LGAs to improve employee’s efficiency in the organization. The study findings also revealed employees training facilitates mutual teamwork, commitment, bridges the gap between performance and productivity, boost employee’s morale and enhance skills development. The study also established are indispensable factors that constrains employee’s performance in LGAs, this includes lack of resources for most organization, poor working condition, insufficient of labour. The study hypotheses showed that all the variables state in the hypothesis had a significant relationship with employee performance. That means; research found that strong relationship exists between employee training and employees’ performance. Findings established there was high positive influence of training on employee’s performance; this was statistically significant at 1% level of significance. The correlation analysis revealed all the independent and dependent variable were highly positive. The study recommends; the government to improve working conditions by providing funds, allocating resources and transport facilities to improve performance.
