Assessment of Knowledge and Practices of the Police Officers and Citizens on the Implementation of Community Policing in Tanzania: A Case Study of Chalinze Council- Coast Region.

Abstract
This study assessed the knowledge and pratices of the police officers and citizens on the implementation of community policing with specific focus to police and citizens of chalinze manicipal council .The study was justified based on the fact that the implementation of community policing depend on the knowledge and practices of of both the citizens and police officers.The method applied in this study involved case study research where by data were collected from 100 respondents from bothside ie police officers and citizens. Data analysis was done using statistical for social science (SPSS).Through the study we found that there is a litle knowledge and insuficient practices of community policing among police officers as well as citizens and was identified through several factors such as lack of regular training on cp issues,insuficient commuty senstization meeting,poor availability of resource,bad political and legal influence,poor relationship between the police and citizens .The study concluded that ,knowledge and practices of community policing are still in a low standard compared to the rate of crime in Tanzania so father effort shoul be done to improve the knowledge of CP so as to have an effective implementation of community policing .The study recomended that in order to have sastainable CP in Tanzania we should invest on some of the issues such as,improved policy environment,skilled ,knowledgable and motivated human resources,sastainable financial system also there is the need of the government to develope national policy of community policing that wil guide on better policy practices
